During the course of therapy you will develop a shared understanding of your difficulties with your therapist based on a particular therapeutic approach that best meets your hopes for therapy. On this page you will find further information about these models as well as resources that may be used within the therapy, or that you will be directed to work with independently.
Compassion Focussed Therapy
Compassion Focussed Therapy, or CFT, is a psychological approach that draws on our knowledge of human nature, attachment and evolution to understand how and why we experience and struggle with different emotions. Originally developed to understand and address difficulties with self criticism and shame, the approach is widely used to support people struggling with a range of experiences, including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and those struggling with trauma histories.
